I can't believe that the remainder of the year can already be feasibly calculated in hours, where did the year go? Its strange when I was younger even the best years seemed to go buy slow slow slow but now that I am getting older even the years I would count as the worst of the worst seem to fly by once they are done.
So what did I accomplish this last year? When I look back I don't think I did much. I did move across the country, from one place that I thought a didn't like to a place that I truly hate so that is one thing. I did find a new author or two that I really enjoy. I believe that in some ways my taste in movies has grown, or at least expanded for the better. I've reacquainted myself with the better elements of Stand-up comedy and grown in my taste for that as well.
Big plan? I really don't like big parties, I'm not comfortable at them and don't have a good time. As odd as it sounds I prefer to spend new years alone quietly. That being said, if I had a car and the means I would gladly ring in the new year in a comedy club. I don't have much of a reason why that is how I would prefer to spend the evening other than that is a place I know I would have fun. Think about it, how awesome would it be to spend the end of one year and the beginning of another in a place built for laughs?
I do have a small tradition that I have been been observing for something like ten years now... it may even have been a year or two more but ten is a close enough number. At the start of the new year, after midnight and before I go to bed I watch the movie Clerks. I don't know long I will keep this tradition going on but I don't see it ending any time soon. I just dig that flick, it came along at a very good time for me and it showed me that movies don't have to be just about big explosions and unbelievable premises to be good.
I need to do an inventory of the books I've read in the last year.
If this pans out I'm completely in.

I love comic book, but I hate buying them online. Why? Here is a pretty good example from my most recent order.
Cost of comics = $5.24
Cost of shipping = $6.25
Plus I need to do some research or find a community so I can get back into current story arcs and when they started so I can go back and get issues or TPBs.
I've gone too long without saying anything again. This will be brief but since I need to say something I thought I'd say something that is both obvious and important to know.
Battlestar Galactica is kicking some serious ass, it kills me that I didn't get in on this show until the middle of season 2.
This is actually a post from my new toy at http://www.AskewedViews.vox.com I'm planning on keeping this ite around in some form or another and using that for my random blog thoughts, but right now I'm playing it by ear.
First off let me say, Last Christmas #4 arrived and delivered the awesome, I can't wait for the final issue to come out, LC has been one of a couple of forces that have been pushing me back into loving comic books. Now if only I could find the Daredevil TPBs that I want so I can get caught up... Also money would be helpful in this endeavor.
I don't care if it makes me a bad person, weird or what but I have really been enjoying Saints Row. Maybe I just have some aggression to get out or something I'm not sure, but it has been fun. We'll see if I make it all the way through though. I will admit that there is no way that anyone under 17 should be anywhere near this thing, and I'm usually pretty lenient on things like R rated movies and such, but this is one dirty bird of a game.
DVD commentaries, I used to think they were a bad idea. I was wrong, I've been going through my collection recently re watching everything with commentary, in a lot of cases I actually had a better appreciation of the movies. Take X3 for example, I really wasn't happy with it on the first viewing, then when I saw it on DVD I was still on the fence about it, then I watched it with commentary and I was able to understand better a lot of the decisions that Ratner made.
I'm incredibly disappointed in myself. I used to be able to put my thoughts into writing fairly well, and much more interestingly than I am able to these days. Now when I try to write something with real substance to it my brain starts to hurt.
Shaun of the Dead... still awesome.

Especially those of you in Uno the last couple of days. I don't particularly care what movie you are playing on your laptop, I could care less what cool things you have on your wall, I certainly don't want to see your TV screen, and if you must have yourself on camera please cute out the extreme closeups, I don't care what is up your nose and nobody else does either I'm sure.
Is it apparent that I am completely unimpressed by the new camera for the 360? Ok it is kind of fun that it allows you to make a unique player icon, at the same time it kind of kills the need to download/purchase new ones. Honestly I thought unlocking them from games would have been a more fun route to go anyway. Video conferencing might be a good thing as well for some people, the ui looks to need some work for that though like maybe allowing you do do other things on the system while conferencing. However having the ability to ue a live cam eed instead of your gamer icon during games really seems to be a bad idea, no only is it disturbing but it affects the quality of play. Three or four cam feeds coming in at once is going to have an effect on connection speed also don't forget to factor in tha all three or four people are going to be keeping the microphone on full time so you can not only see what they want you to but so you have to hear it as well.
I'm ranting a bit I know, I guess for now the best choice is to give up Uno and play Texas Hold'em. ..... I only wish that I had the enough skill to actually play (and not be embarrassed so completely) on PokerStars.
How "Last Christmas" #4 was released nearly a week ago and I didn't know? Upsetting, hopefully I snagged a copy of it though.
Kicking a 6 year old computer is not only an ineffective way to fix the problem, but it is also a bad idea without shoes.
Can you feel it? Probably not, but I sure can. I hope to be able to elaborate soon.
